The Weaver Ensemble

A unique combination — an actor, 2 baroque dancers, one who also sings, and 4 musicians

The group was created by Evelyn to celebrate The Loves of Mars and Venus, the first modern ballet, performed at Drury Lane Theatre in London in 1717. We bring  together authentic baroque dances and music, mime and words to tell the story of John Weaver’s heroic struggle to create a proper dance drama in a theatre world which saw dance as a frivolous side show. The show is informative, witty, colourful and highly entertaining and it has delighted audiences all over the UK.

The Loves of Pygmalion

The first performance of our new show is at the Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond N. Yorks,  on June 5 as part of the Swaledale Festival https://www.swalefest.org
